The fragment, probably was found following the partial collapse of the facade of the Cathedral in 1861, is relevant to a frame enclosing the mosaics image of Saint Andrew present on the tympanum. This is unfortunately the only testimony of the mosaic decorations that covered both the apse and the façade of the Cathedral, presumably made during the episcopate of Andrea de Alaneo (1296-1329), relating stylistically to the Roman pictorial culture of late 13th century.
