Inside the ogival arch Gothic aedicula separates the Mystic marriage of Saint Catherine by Christ with the seven angels of the Apocalypse on the top. It is likely that the fresco was executed by different hands, as different quality of pictorial writing between the two parts shows. The Christ depicted with the blessing hand and the features plastically rendered, lends itself to acomparison with the anonymous Neapolitan artist of Giotto training known as the Master of the Lioness chapel of the Church of San Pietro a Maiella in Naples. The realization of the bottom with the Virgin, the Child and Saint Caterina, appears weaker and more hasty, though is attributed to the same artistic movement.
