The heads were mounted on a golden wooden busts of Baroque style, contained the relics of Saint Basil the Great Bishop, Saint Philip and Saint Diomedes. They consist of two parts: the face and the occiput joined by hinges.
The figures with extended and worried faces are stylistically attributable to a phase when on the recurring Byzantine tradition modules the new instances of Gothic art insert themselves, maybe transposed from a local goldsmith’s workshop in the last decades of the 13th century.
