The pluteus, carved on both sides, is one of the most important and ancient of the Museum and shows the type of furni-ture typical of the local high-medieval churches. The recto decoration consists of three layers of circles with bilined wicker tape, knotted together and combined with pattern of crossing diagonal and square mesh, giving rise to a frame, provid-ing a sense of coherence and completeness.
On the reverse, the Virgin and child en-throned between Saint John the Baptist and Saint Andrew, are engraved in bas-relief and flanked by a pilaster with candelabra motif, a typical Renaissance element of decoration.
